Juliet 101

Aunt Sister was the winner of the contest!

She guessed Juliet would be born on January 4th at 9:15 pm, 6 lbs 10 oz. and 20 in. long. Which is a difference of 0 days, 18 hours, 55 mins. -1 lb. 5 oz. and O in. long. Aunt Sister's score was 199.58.

Congratulations! She is the recipient of a Starbucks gift card!

"Aunt Sister" is Juliet's great aunt.

Weight Watchers

I guess I could turn this into a picture blog, which grandparents wouldn't mind, but words every once in a while are appreciated by those other than family...I guess.

Anyways, Juliet had her first doctors appointment a week ago Monday. They basically said she was perfect (did we need a doctor to tell us that?), but she lost weight. She was 7.15 at birth, 7.7 when we left the hospital (which is normal) and 7.4 at the appointment. Then the doc threw out the "f" word...formula. If Juliet didn't gain weight, we might have to look into formula. So I called our lactation consultant and she provided some good information and encouragement.

Juliet and Dr. Brannon
Yesterday was weigh in day... 7.12!!!!!!!! 8 oz gain! At this rate, Juliet might be a porker! And the "f" word wasn't mentioned again.

I can really tell she has changed. She looks like a huge, puffy baby at birth. Then she slimmed way down.
And now she's gaining, but doesn't look nearly as puffy as she did. Evidently, being born is HARD work. I know giving birth certainly is! One of my goals this week is to write out Juliet's birth story. We'll see if I can achieve that.

Monday

The induction was bumped up to Monday (5th), so Miss Juliet will be here soon! We head to the hospital bright and early on Monday. I have a feeling we won't be getting much sleep Sunday night.
She could come earlier, which would be great. Sunday's my birthday, so whether she comes Saturday or Monday we're going to be celebrating back to back birthdays! We are ready for her to arrive. Justin installed the car seat Wednesday. He's going to be such a great dad!
I still cannot believe we are going to be parents by Monday! Since we will never be just us again, we are spending a day alone on Saturday. No calls in, no calls out. Just some QT.
What a cute dad!
